About Meditative Horsemanship™
What if you could experience a true friendship with your horse, without the need for metal, force, domination or fear-based, negative reinforcement used by modern horse training approaches?
What if all you needed to do was experience the now, the moment, this very breath?
What if all it took was becoming open to an entirely new way of being with your horse?
What if all was required of you was to close your eyes and mouth, open your mind and heart to experience life from the perspective of your equine partner?
Isis is an equine-human relationship facilitator, behaviorist, healer and intuitive communicator. She specializes in building strong foundations and bridges for true inter-species communication, trust and mutual respect between equine and human partners.
Her training program is based on thousands of years of Eastern philosophy and supported by proven scientific theories of learning, psychology, behavior and bio-mechanics.
Isis has a unique talent in assisting humans and equines to reconnect with one another and build a lasting friendship that goes beyond the physical. A life-long relationship based on mutual trust, respect, and communication.
Background -
Isis has been communicating with animals since she was three. This ability has enabled her a unique insight and view into the world of horses and has led her to a path of greater understanding resulting from the problems of modern day training practices.
Her insight to these problems were reinforced when she began to study tonic immobility, learned helplessness, and PTSD and how these psychologically damaging conditions are used by trainers and clinicians to produce “push-button mounts”.
With cross-discipline studies in reining, trail riding, endurance, dressage, three day eventing, and hunter jumper, Isis delved deeply into numerous approaches to training to discover the “secrets”. She found these secrets were nothing more than psychological abuse as well as phsyical.
Isis didn’t understand why people feel so afraid of the horse, that they believe they need to dominate and control the horse through threat of pain and force. She found these training paradigms caused more problems than solved - and she decided to find an answer for horses everywhere.
Seeking to address the core problem of domination and fear-based training paradigms, Isis plunged into a five-year study of animal behavior, learning theory and psychology.
Isis pursued the “answer” through 10 years of devoted research which led her to uncover the theories of horsemanship by such masters as: Xenophon, Newcastle, de la Broue, Baucher, de La Guerinere, Licart, General deCarpentry and others. She went on to study classical equitation with three masters over 5 years, taking serious study in the art of rassembler.
She then studied and learned more about positive reinforcement through the use of clicker training. Her own personal studies into esoteric eastern wisdom added depth to her training, and uncovered a secret to unlocking a communication bridge to the horse.
She has taken the best of what each of these trainers and teachers had to offer to produce a body of applicable wisdom for today’s enlightened equestrian.
Isis has spent years studying psychology, behavior, conditioning, nutrition, herbal medicine, bio-energy, anatomy and physiology, as well as Eastern Philosophy.
Isis started to formulate a different approach to working with horses – one she developed in partnership with her own troubled horses she rescued along the way.
Her unique approach bridges eastern philosophy and science of energetics, western science of psychology, animal behavior, and learning theory with the nearly lost classical art of riding.
Meditative Horsemanship™ is born.
This path of the meditative horse person is not for everyone, but the wisdom found in principles and philosophies learned and studied along the way go far to impact every aspect of your life.
Her approach to working with horses is the first of its kind – truly no force, no fear, no domination, where the horse and rider must learn to find ways to work TOGETHER, as opposed to dominating one over the other and grow together on a path where mutual trust, respect and true love reigns supreme.
